Guidelines

1. Please ride with respect and responsibility. Every rider should respect the rights of other road users including motorists and pedestrians.

2. Ride predictably, use proper hand signals when slowing, stopping or turning Obey traffic rules and regulations of New York State

3 Riders must single up at the "car back" warning in order to allow cars to pass safely. Riders must ride single file when being passed by another vehicle. Busy roads require single file riding. Riding two abreast is only permissible in low traffic areas and when prudent. Three abreast is illegal and unsafe.

4. Call out and/or point to hazards and pass any such warning along the line. These include holes, blind curves, grates, potholes, sand, gravel, expansion joints, etc.

5. Because traffic conditions can change very quickly, avoid the "clear!" statement at intersections. Each rider is responsible for himself or herself when entering an intersection.

6. Riding with close overlapping wheels is dangerous and should be avoided.

7. Drafting other riders should not performed except with a group of experienced riders. When "riding on someone's wheel" be sure they know you are drafting them. Do not draft when the person indicates a negative response to your "grabbing their wheel". Drafting another rider can be inappropriate and dangerous in many circumstances.

8. Riders should alert riders they are passing. Pass only on the left.

9. Use extreme caution in executing left turns. Remember that you may have a long line of riders behind you.

10. Inform the Ride Leader if you are leaving the ride for any reason.
